Before I get to a brief recap of the “So You Think You Can Dance” tour at Gwinnett Arena Monday night, here’s a spot you can sample the new Carrie Underwood and both her and Bo Bice’s new CDs here. Thanks, MJs Big Blog for finding these. It’ll be interesting to see how many CDs Bo will be able to sell when he’s only selling it at Wal-Mart. I’m certain Carrie will sell at least 300,000 copies, probably closer to 400,000.
The tour at the Gwinnett Arena was a satisfying greatest-dances reprise from the show, a quick two-hours and a half that seemed to go by faster than the “Idol” tour last month. And the dancers fit the personalities we got to know over the summer. Sara, my favorite B-girl, was confident and just plain hot. Lauren was boisterously sweet. Winner Sabra exuded flair and confidence. Neil received the most squeals from the crowd and didn’t disappoint with his acrobatic moves. Pascha was charming, Dominic, a flirty jokester and Danny, technically amazing but emotionally distant. A few backups got to perform, too, including Jesus and break dancer Hok, as well as amazingly sexy couples dancer Anya and unmemorable Shauna, who covered for an injured Lacey adequately but not exceptionally.
Here’s a video from the Philly stop of that “Sweet Dreams” dance:
I would have liked to have seen more extensive solos than the 30-second “dance for your life” bits mostly taken from the show, too. There were a few cool group dances, including one from the “Lion King.” And the video clips meshed seamlessly between dances. (A review of the season which included that Kennesaw robot dancer got huge cheers.)
The audience was heavily female, slightly younger than the “Idol” crowd a month ago. It was also slightly smaller, the small top balcony areas empty. But I’d say it was still at least 7,000 people, a very solid audience number.
I’ll post something more extensive info later today with photos I took from about 30 feet away from an inadequate camera and link to our pro Robb Cohen’s much better shots.
Wow!! First. Been awhile. Anyway, yesterday we were talking about how bad Viva Laughlin was and I just read this morning that it has been cancelled. It is the second show cancelled this season (the other was on WB) and the first scripted show.
CBS said they will show a CSI rerun this Sunday in the timeslot and (woohoo) "The Amazing Race" will start in the slot next week.
I actually saw something other than man-hating on Oprah yesterday.....a professor Randy Pausch, who happens to have terminal pancreatic cancer was on giving his 'last' lecture.....very inspirational even though he is young and only has 3-6 months left. Seems Dr Pausch has the right attitude about living.
Cameron Mathison (DWTS) was hot last night. No question about it. I thought is Ramba (sp) was really good. Didn't think Cuban did so bad. But we'll see. I guess one way of not hearing the Judge's comments is to faint - they never did them after they came back from commercial. Was it me, or the female jude, Carrie is it, looked mad at the world last night.
Amazing Race coming back in a week - I like that one.

Good Morning Nana, Mitch and the great RC..... I am in a lousy mood, me and the Mrs had words this morning. Just a brief history, we never fight. So, the day has not started off right.
Sorry to hear that, hope it's nothing too serious, but me and mine always have words...lol....so don't take it too hard and say a prayer....she prob feels the same way....
My oldest grand started watchin that Amazing Race a couple years ago when he was about 5...he loves it.....I never watched it much, but it must be a good show....
I like it because these couples travel to locations and look for clues and do little challenges and try to be the first one to a "rest stop" and the last one is ususally sent home. But, no one votes them off, they have to make it on their own. They are in countries where maybe no one speaks english, and they have to find there way throught the cities. You would like it if you watched it. It's my fav of the reality shows

Thanks RC, you are like a big brother to me, you always have the right words to say....
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 8:19AM EST
Good morning Nan, Mitch, RC, and Shaun.... Mitch - I saw that too and remember what you and Linny said about it yesterday. I still say they don't give shows enough time to catch on now. That is why I am somewhat leary of watching a new show now. I guess y'all have heard about the writers strike. When it happens, there are going to be a lot more reality shows. It's really going to affect the TV schedule as we know it. AI will be safe of course. ;-) RC... Sometimes I watch Oprah when I get home on Mondays. I did not watch yesterday. Sounds like it was a really good show. Oh well, time to work...bbiab...
I showed that Oprah show to the missus last night off Tivo...I shoulda got her some dayum tissue out beforehand but RC ain't perfect.....hell I was even crying over that stuff. That guy is impressive idf you get the chance....I've heard his stuff is on YouTube too.
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 8:25AM EST
RC.. Thanks for the heads up. I will look for it today.
She ain't as bad this year I gotta admit. For a while there, I wouldn't watch it...I started takin it personal and all....but she does raise some really good issues I reckon.
RC, I like my DVR. It's good. My daughter tells me that she needs to get a special Tivo for HD shows, so she's switching to dual DVR like I have. Says the HD Tivo too expensive.
I can understand that.....maybe you oughta ask CHOC for KPH's number...I understand he's the man with the plan now. He could prob order you one off a website...if he did it for CHOC, I don't see why he couldn't do it for you....
I like it too Nana....that TIVO don't have a bias, you can record just about anything and then even put it on DVD if you want.
I need to get me one of those HD ones too.....Dish was running a special here where you could get the HDDVR free with a contract....I thought about calling Directv and asking them to match it. My brother has the hd one an says its da'bomb.
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 8:36AM EST
Nana... I still have to call Comcast and get my HD DVR for my new TV. Before I do that, I need to watch about 30 hours worth of shows taped. Speaking of Oprah... I sort of liked her more in the beginning. Now she seems to have been more affected by the money...
RC, we bought an HD DVD player when we got our new TV. It's nice, but there are some HD disc we get from Netflix, it doesn't play for some reason, and some it does. I'm wondering if we need to get one that is "blue tooth". Whatever that means.
Luvs, I find Oprah these days more about "me" (herself) than others. Do you?
Mornin y'all! Had a situation yesterday that I didn't quite know how to resond to. A very nice lady who works in our cafeteria comes to the library every day to use a computer. We are friendly - Hi, Bye, Have a nice weekend. She knows I have been having health problems. Yesterday she walked up to me and grabbed my arm and said, "I just want you to know that God spoke to me last night and told me that he is going to bless you with good health soon." I said, "Oh...thank you." I didn't know what else to say. She said, "Have a bless day" (her usual goodbye) and left. What do you say to something like that? Is thank you enough? I was kinda thrown. I have had people say that they are praying for me, but never had God speak directly to someone about me.
Yo, I've had people say things like that to me too. You handled it right. You say thank you and keep it moving.
nana, for awhile Oprah was all about me and my money and my friends and they're money, but lately she's done some really interesting shows. She's starting to get back to her bread and butter. The transgendered shows were interesting as were the ones on kids and divorce.
D - yea, I guess that's it. I always get the type mixed up - my son-in-law usually corrects me.
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 8:48AM EST
Morning Yo...I think a simple thank you is enough. Since you were caught off guard by the comment, I think it's okay. Is your back still bothering you? {{{{{{{Yo}}}}}}}} Nana... Yep, it's more about how much she can be in the spotlight.... Still think she is a breath of fresh air compared all the others though. ;-) Hey Carla...
Nana does Netflix know you got a HDDVD? THat Blueray is a different format and they won't play on each other from what I understand......I imagine RC will be buying a PS3 for Christmas.....you know for the grandkids ;)......it's supposed to have the Blueray built in.
IDK, Carla...the transgender thing(which I admit is interesting) seems to have taken on a life of its own. How many shows has she done about it in the last month?
I do agree that yesterday's show was great. And I love her shows with Dr Oz and her makeover shows. I had my first bra fitting ever because of Oprah and was amazed at the outcome.
Nana I know Dr Phil is from Texas and all but I bout had enough of the Dr Phil house and crackheads, etc. He needs to change it up a little, he's startin to get like Jerry IMO.
dang D...us fellas don't need to hear about bra fittin' and all......well maybe we do..... ;)

GOOD MORNING ALL!!!!!5 DAYS TIL THE DAWGS AND GATORS TANGLE DOWN THERE IN THE GATOR BOWL!!!!GO DAWGS!!!!!
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 8:53AM EST
Nana... Yep, right now they have two competing with each other it's HD DVD vs Blue Ray. Sony is using Blue Ray and Paramount is using HD DVD. When I went to buy my Transformers HD DVD last week, I did not realize it would not play on a Blue Ray DVD disc player. I'm glad my sister-in-law called and told me to take it back and get the regular one. Also, the HD and Blue Ray DVD's are about $10.00 more. ;-(... Eventually, one is going to win out in the market. I just hope it's the Blue Ray after paying $500.00 for mine. ;-)
Yeah D, she did like 3 or 4 shows on it. I guess I never really thought about it much, but the shows were very interesting. It looks as though she's going to do her whole "whenever my friends have a movie they're coming on the show" thing too.
RC, my Greg has a PS3 and gets all his netflix movies in blueray. He loves it!
Morning y'all...again! I'm on 3 hour duty with my friend today. She had her chemo yesterday...I'm not looking forward to it! I take at least 4 shifts a week. Her church is being wonderful about finding people to stay with her while her hubby is at work and even when he is home...he needs some time to himself. At the same time, he wants to spend every minute with her. It's so frickin sad!
I'm not fond of Dr. Phil. I've only seen him on Oprah. Never watched his show. The "know it all" mentality doesn't do it for me. And yes, I've added HD to my Netflix account, but for some reason not every HD DVD they send me works. I've often wondered if someone played them on something else. Oh well, guess we need to look for a blue ray. My sil tells me that soon you'll really need HD ready TV, so I guess we need to look for one for bedroom too.
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 8:59AM EST
Also, I am wondering if they are going to carry both on Netflix. I need to check that out now. I do know when I watched Knocked Up from Blockbuster recently, it looked like it was in HD. Supposedly the Blue Ray converts to HD. The Blue Ray picture quality is just that much better. If anybody knows more, please share.

MY WIFE LOVES THAT DR PHIL AND ALL THAT HE DOES FOR PEOPLEWHATS!!!I HOPE THEY DONT CANCEL HIM AND WHAT NOT!
The smaller LCD flatscreens have really come down in price. Is it 2009 that every TV station has to be switched to HD? Then they'll also run analog for a couple more years. After that, you either need a digital TV or you need to get a converter box for your analog TV.
This is tech stuff so I may be totally wrong! :-)
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 9:02AM EST
RC... Since Oprah has publicly supported Obama, I doubt you will see Hillary on her show... D...Thinking about you and your friend...Sounds like she has a great groups of people to help here through this trying time. Give her a big blog hug from all us!! ;-)
Posted by: on October 23, 2007 9:03AM EST
I want the PS3 too, is that the Wifi one-with all the great virtuoso games?
Yes, RC, she's terminal although they are, at her request, loading her up with tons of chemo. Some of her tumors have shrunk quite a bit but they feel that it is just buying her a little more time.
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 9:04AM EST
D... You are correct. TV is going totally digital in 2009. If you have an analog TV, you will need a box to convert to digital.
Posted by: flat screen on October 23, 2007 9:05AM EST
YALL ARE ON FIRE TODAY WITH SOME HOT TOPICS!!!!HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT...WONDERFUL IDEA!!!!
How do you have time to sit with someone and take care of mom?
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 9:07AM EST
RC... That is correct. My brother looked it up online and told my sister-in-law who told me. Yes, Knocked Up is worth renting. I saw it at the movies and really liked it when it was at the theatre. It's rated R.
LUVS, cracks are starting to show in Obama's campaign IMO.....there is an email circulating currently that shows a pic of some of the candidates in Iowa. Allegedly, they say the Pledge of Allegience and the national anthem is played with the flag in the background. All the candidates have their hands across their hearts BUT Obama.....don't know what he was thinking there.

BREAKING NASCAR NEWS....MAYFEILD WILL DRIVE THE 66 CAR NEXT YEAR!!!!I LOVE GIVING NASCAR NEWS TO ALL MY FRIENDS!!!!24 ALL THE WAY BABY!!!!
It's raining in the ATL for the second day in a row. Thank God. I would hate for us to have to cut back on sending water to those poor little mussels.
{{{{{{{Yo}}}}}}}} You did the right thing. No need for any pomp and circumstance. She was passing on a message. That's it.
Sean, arguing is normal in a relationship. Don't be afraid to do it. My exidiotfool didn't like to argue. That's why he's 'ex'd. Dumb arse.
Did any one see Marie Osmond faint on DWTS?
Hello?
Is anybody out there. . .did I miss everything?
Helllerrr?
Dang.
Posted by: linnykat on October 23, 2007 9:21AM EST
mornin' pound.... i love a rainy night....well, it didn't really rain but it was drizzly here... cool.... a sort of "natural" quiet (which isn't really quiet but...)
anywho... got my coffee, got my pile of work, so ...
hi ho hi ho it's off to work i go whistling fades into the distance
Jex, I saw it. What did you think of my Cameron? Love him.
Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 23, 2007 9:25AM EST
Hey Jexy! Well, so much for "west & wewaxation"...I was up at 5am to go to the gym. It did make me feel better! ( :
Yes, I did see Marie Osmond faint! OMIGOD!! She scared the living crap out of me!
Posted by: linnykat on October 23, 2007 9:25AM EST
peeking back in...
Yo, what Jex and the rest all said...you said exactly the right thing. Hey, can't hurt to "claim" what she said and pray/hope/believe she's right!
Yep, saw Marie faint...it was DEFINITELY "live" television...the look on Tom Bergeron's face was priceless. I too wondered if they would show any comments on her dancing, but i suppose that any thoughts the judges had were blown out of their own heads with that. It's definitely a first... but later, MelB also was having problems getting her breath after the samba, right? evidently that's a REALLY taxing number!!!
{{{jexica}}} you're not alone!
later gang, i really DO have to work a while, lol!
Marie fainted because , as she says, she wasn't breathing properly. If she keeps wearing triple Spanx like she had on last night, it's no wonder she can't breathe 'properly'.
Jex, she had just finished dancing and was waiting for the Judges remarks and down she went. They got a 21 for the dance. No sympathy there. Well, I have 4 sets of time to enter. To work I go. At home and comfy. :-)
Posted by: on October 23, 2007 9:30AM EST
Sup Jexy!!! She wasn't dancing, they were finished and the judges were critiqueing(sp?) them and she was breathing really hard and BAM! she fell out. I think she hyperventilated.
Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 23, 2007 9:32AM EST
Well, Marie was standing there while the 1st judge was commenting on her performance and then.....BAM....she hit the floor. Her dance partner had his arms around her waist so I don't understand why he didn't catch her. Maybe he was caugh off guard. Live television....man-o-man!
Triple Spanx!?!! Really D? Well no wonder. I'm surprised she could even move. Surely she's lost weight with all the rehearsals and performances. Why would she need so much. . . er, bondage?
Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 23, 2007 9:34AM EST
LMAO! "BAM" is the sound effect for the day!!! LOL
She's lost weight, Jex but the outfit she was wearing last night looked like it was painted on. I was worried about her being able to breathe during the dance, then after, just before she fainted, she was really trying to suck in air. Felt bad for her.
I faint like that when I get overheated. Happened to me once while I was in the shower and no one was home. I woke up shortly after. I had a bad knot on my head because my head hit the tub. My mom cried when I told her and told me to not shower when home by myself anymore. I used to have bad seizures as a baby but the doc says I'm fine. I grew out of them.
Fainted at work 3 times. Three different jobs.
Posted by: on October 23, 2007 9:36AM EST
the poor woman has had 8 kids...i guess that's one spanx per 3 children...
Gotta go folks. have a good day...I should be back after lunch.
Posted by: on October 23, 2007 9:39AM EST
LOL @ Choc!!! BAM! is the word of the day:-) glad you're feeling better!
I have fainted countless times...first time was when I was 10, I know when it's coming so I can usually head it off w/a cold rag on the back of my neck and some OJ. (no, I'm not diabetic, just a fainter)
Posted by: Luvstoread on October 23, 2007 9:40AM EST
Hey Jex, Choc, Kimmy, and Linny... LOL @ Kimmy... Choc.. Is Pebbles looking for Bam..Bam..;-)...

There are so many interesting things in the news today. Some have left me scratching my head.
1. Guiliani has employed and defends a priest accused of child molestation. WTH? Even if you have known him for 39 years this isn't the smartest thing to do. Even if I was thinking of voting for him before this would have him ex'd off my list quick, fast and in a hurry!!
2. The fires in So. California. Too, too sad. Let's see if FEMA has made any real progress with procedure changes. Will they handle this disaster better than past disasters? Will victims be waiting months from now for trailers? Too many questions, so little time.
3. Countrywide will refinance $16B in mortgage loans for customers with ARMs. Let's see if other sub-primers do the same.
In the past, it was called the vapors. Women of a delicate nature would faint dead away and be carried to her room where she would lie abed all day sipping water (Not too much, now! Just a sip!)and having her forehead dabbed with a moist cloth.
Jex, I have no idea. Doctor could never find anything wrong with me. I had a few other medical problems as a baby but nothing relating to seizures. As i got older, they stopped.
Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 23, 2007 9:49AM EST
...that should read "waiting months for trailers"...SHEESH, I can't type this morning!! LOL
I have never fainted in my life! Came close once while in college. Had a high fever and an ear infection, got up too fast to go to the restroom then everything started spinning. I felt like I was at the carnival on one of those wierd rides. LOL
