Atlantans would rather have a root canal or attend a funeral than sell their home, survey says

A recent report from HSH lays out how much you should earn for an Atlanta house. It recommends $40,725.36 in salary per year. The mortgage site used data from the National Association of Realtors. The average Atlanta home costs $182,800.

How do Atlantans feel about the real estate market? Many despise it, according to a new report.

Opendoor, an online real estate service that recently expanded to Atlanta, released the results of a survey that evaluated consumer impressions of the buying and selling process from folks in Atlanta.

To do so, the company conducted an online questionnaire, handing it out to more than 300 metro Atlanta homeowners aged 25 and above. All participants had home values that ranged from $125,000 to $500,000.

After analyzing the data, it found that locals would rather have a root canal or attend a funeral than sell their homes.

In fact, about 63 percent of Atlantans found the home buying and selling process stressful, and about 61 percent said it was too time-consuming.

The survey also revealed the most challenging aspects of the process for folks in The Peach City.  About 65 percent said was getting the house ready to sell and 47 percent stated it was maintaining it for viewing for prospective buyers.

That’s why about 29 percent of the people surveyed said they were not planning to sell their home in the next year. They believe the hassle wasn’t worth it. Many would instead prefer an easier and simpler method that made the process more convenient, according to the research.
