A failed pipe will close this Marietta road for a month starting today

A pipe failure will close a portion of Rockwood Drive until Nov. 14 while crews work.

The 48-inch corrugated metal pipe has failed, causing the road to settle, according to the Cobb County Department of Transportation.

Crews will install a new 48-inch reinforced concrete pipe. They will also fortify the area and repave the road.

Rockwood will be closed from Jamerson Road to Gray Rock Drive.

Here's how to avoid the roadwork:

  • Heading east of Jamerson from Canton Road, continue straight onto Jamerson to Olde Mill Drive, turn left and drive to Gray Rock Drive, turn left and use Gray Rock to access Rockwood.
  • Traveling north on Lee Waters Road — from Kell High School — just turn right onto Jamerson and then follow the instructions above.
  • Going west on Jamerson from Trickum Road, turn right onto Olde Mill Drive to Gray Rock Drive, turn left and use Gray Rock to get to Rockwood.
