Q&A on the News

Q: I read the recent Q&A on the News concerning Georgia’s effort with South Carolina for mutual acceptance of their electronic toll devices (Peach Pass, SunPass, E Pass, etc). Why isn’t Georgia working toward accepting the EZ Pass that is accepted by many states throughout New England, the East Coast and as far inland as Illinois and Indiana? I got mine from Virginia. It has no minimum monthly requirement and can be registered to several different vehicles. What a convenience!

—Gene Osborn, Marietta

A: "We are working to become interoperable with New England EZ Pass states as well," Matt Markham, a spokesman for the State Road & Tollway Authority, told Q&A on the News via email.

The SRTA’s discussions with other states aren’t as far along as the discussions with South Carolina, so Markham wrote that he could not provide an estimate at this time as to when those agreements may be complete.

Q: Jim Johnson, pitcher for the Braves, has blown seven saves. How many of those games did the Braves win?

—Bryant Mitchell, Brookhaven

A: Johnson had blown seven saves through July 21. The Braves have won three of those games.
