Q: In the past several months I have noticed that we receive mail well past 6 p.m. at least two days a week. Are the mail carriers receiving overtime pay? Are these factors driving up our mail costs?

A: Delivery times can vary throughout the year, often due to circumstances beyond the U.S. Postal Service's control, such as inclement weather, traffic and other events, spokesman Rick Badie told Q&A on the News in an email.
All carriers are entitled to overtime pay, when appropriate, in accordance with federal law and postal policy, he wrote. Some employees begin their shifts later than others, and overtime may not be necessarily involved with those carriers working later in the evening.
“Mail costs are not increasing,” he wrote.
USPS is currently hiring seasonal employees to assist with deliveries during the holiday season.
“Our carrier workforce is sufficient and, in fact, growing,” he wrote.
Q: What happened to the expansion of the Your DeKalb Farmers Market? They removed trees and now there’s just a big field of weeds.

A: The owner of Your DeKalb Farmers Market is still working on the plans and has not solidified them, a representative of the market told Q&A on the News via email.
“The plans are not complete and there is no deadline at this point,” according to an email.
