Obamacare enrollment extended until Feb. 22

Americans unable to finish enrolling in Obamacare health coverage by the Feb. 15 deadline may not be too late.

Those who faced long delays online or with a call center on Feb. 13, 14 or 15 while trying to sign up through the Affordable Care Act’s insurance marketplace have until Feb. 22 to finish enrolling, federal health officials said this week.

The extension also applies to those who mailed in an application and received notice that they are still eligible to complete it.

Nearly 469,000 Georgians had signed up for marketplace plans as of Feb. 11, federal data shows.

“It is critical that everyone who started the enrollment process, but was unable to finish it, act immediately to complete their enrollment by Feb. 22,” said Danté McKay, Georgia director for Enroll America.

Consumers who fall into this category should go to HealthCare.gov and click the blue box on the right to complete the process, McKay said.

They will be asked to confirm that they were trying to enroll on one of the three days. People who think they qualify for the extension can also call 1-800-318-2596. Get Covered America offers assistance at www.getcoveredamerica.org/connector.
