Student arrested after bomb threat on North Hall Middle campus

‘Breakdown’ S02 Ep. 13: The state rests

Lead Detective Phil Stoddard ended his testimony after four days on the witness stand. Under cross-examination, Stoddard took some punches, but also delivered some blows. On Friday, the state rested its case after calling 51 witnesses to the stand over the course of 16 days of testimony. They presented no eyewitnesses, no DNA on a murder weapon, no irrefutable video. Instead, prosecutors put into evidence a mountain of circumstantial evidence and a pile of filth – being Harris’ deviant sex life. The defense then started presenting its case, trying to show the jury that Ross Harris was thinking of a life with his son Cooper long after the day he was left in his father’s SUV to die.

Health care bill failure highlights Trump’s competence gap

One of President Donald Trump’s rare strengths has been his ability to project competence. Are they childish...

It was supposed to be an easy appointment for LaToya Kelly, just to learn the results of her echocardiogram from Dr. Narendra K. Gupta. Instead, she says Gupta groped her during an unnecessary breast exam, and seemed to enjoy it.   She had no way of knowing that more than a decade earlier, Dr. Gupta had lost privileges at two Ohio hospitals...
We’re against emotionalism, except when we’re not

Conservatives have rightly taken pride in Neil Gorsuch’s calm and cerebral performance at his Senate confirmation hearings. Many commentators, along with Republican senators, have mocked Democrats for presuming to evaluate Gorsuch based on the outcomes of his cases. Did he “side with the little guy” or with big corporations? The right...
An oasis of liberty in the Arizona sun

PHOENIX — As a boy, Barry Goldwater Jr., son of the former senator and 1964 Republican presidential nominee, would step out of his father’s house and shoot at tin cans 50 yards away. Now 78, he says he could fire in any direction and not endanger “anything but a cactus.” His father, born in 1909 in Arizona territory, three years...
