Voter registration in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District ends Sunday, following a judge’s order earlier this month extending the registration deadline in metro Atlanta’s northern suburbs.
The deadline comes as voter registration groups have tried to make the most of the extension, going door-to-door in some neighborhoods as well as hosting registration tables at area high schools and grocery stores.
The activity stems from national interest in the upcoming June 20 runoff between Republican Karen Handel and Democrat Jon Ossoff.
The district includes parts of Cobb, DeKalb and Fulton counties.
To figure out if you live in the 6th District or to confirm your voter registration status online, head to the Secretary of State Office’s online “my voter page” website (www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do).
If you need to register, there are several options:
For online voter registration, go to the Secretary of State Office’s website (www.sos.ga.gov) and, under the elections tab, click “Register to Vote.” This includes through Sunday, the final day for registration.
Mail in hard-copy voter registration applications but make sure it is postmarked by Saturday. To get a copy, visit your local elections office or download a voter registration application (http://sos.ga.gov/index.php/Elections/register_to_vote).
Text “GA” or “Georgia” to “2VOTE” (28683). This service is sponsored by the state.
