New Georgia analysis: see which state charter schools ‘beat the odds’

A new analysis of performance with at-risk student groups shows Georgia’s state charter schools as a group performing below what is typical on a measure called “beat the odds.”

The annual statistical analysis by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement compares schools’ ability to teach based on student characteristics that are “outside the school’s control.” Race, ethnicity, disabilities, English fluency, economic “disadvantage” and transience were considered in Thursday’s report for 2017.

Typically, 40 percent of Georgia schools beat the odds, but 26 percent of schools with a charter from the State Charter Schools Commission did, according to a review by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. See how your school performed:
