How the winning run scored: Reliever David Carpenter issued a one-out walk to Yamaico Navarro with the bases loaded in the sixth inning Thursday night. The run gave the visiting Tides a 2-1 lead over Gwinnett and was the second consecutive bases-loaded walk allowed by Carpenter. Four Tides batters walked in the inning.
At the plate: G-Braves right fielder Joey Terdoslavich was 3-for-4, with a double and two singles. Jordan Parraz hit a double for Gwinnett, and Sean Kazmar had two hits. Jason Pridie had a double and Niuman Romero had a triple for Norfolk. Travis Ishikawa, L.J. Hoes, Pridie and Romero each had two hits for the Tides.
On the mound: Gwinnett starter Tim Corcoran (1-1) pitched five innings, allowing two runs on three hits, and he walked four. Corcoran also struck out six.
Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (6-9) go on the road and open a four-game series against the Charlotte Knights at 7:15 p.m. Friday. Right-hander Omar Poveda (0-0, 3.27) is scheduled to start for Gwinnett.
