5 things to know about the Braves Friday

MIAMI — Five things to know about the Braves Friday:

Their 6-3 win Thursday gave them a six-game winning streak, an 18-12 record in their past 30 and a 62-91 record with nine games to play. If they win at least six more the Braves will improve upon their 67-95 record in 2015. This from a team that was 9-28 when manager Fredi Gonzalez was fired May 16. They are 53-63 under interim manager Brian Snitker and 25-23 since Matt Kemp joined the lineup.

— Kemp had two homers and three RBIs Thursday, and his 33 homers and 104 RBIs are his second-best in each category behind league-leading totals of 39 and 126 in 2011 when he was the National League MVP runner-up.

— Freddie Freeman’s two-out, two-run single in the third inning Friday extended his hitting streak to 26 games and his on-base streak to 42 games. They are the longest active streaks in the majors, and the on-base streak is the second-longest in the majors this season and third-longest in Atlanta franchise history, behind Gary Sheffield’s 52-game streak in 2002 and Dale Murphy’s 48-gamer in 1987.

The 26-game hit streak tied Freeman for the second-longest in the majors this season behind a 29-game streak by Boston’s Jackie Bradley. It’s the fifth-longest in Atlanta and longest since Dan Uggla’s Atlanta-record 33-gamer in 2011.

— Center fielder/leadoff man Ender Inciarte had two hits including a triple to raise his majors-leading total to 94 hits since the All-Star break. He’s hit .355 with 20 extra-base hits in 64 games since the break, after hitting .227 with 13 extra-base hits in 59 games before the break.

— The Braves had their streak of games with eight or more hits snapped at 21, the longest single-season mark in Atlanta history and longest in the majors since the Mariners’ 23-game streak in 2007. The Braves had a 22-game streak that spanned parts of the 1969-1970 seasons.
