Emory and the Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama first visited Emory University in 1987. He returned to campus in 1995 and delivered the university’s commencement speech in 1998.
The relationship strengthened in 2007 when he was named a Presidential Distinguished Professor. He visited the campus that year and again in 2010, participating in public events and holding private lectures and activities on campus.
The Dalai Lama will return to Emory in October.
