The Disney Store came under fire after the store introduced a costume for children that allowed them to dress up as the character, Maui.

The problem, as many see it, is that the costume sports Polynesian tribal tattoos on cloth that is representative of brown skin, The Washington Post reported.

Many on social media said the costume is offensive.

Dwayne Johnson, who is the voice of the character of Maui in "Moana," has not responded, the Post reported.

Disney pulled the costume from stores, stating that the filmmakers "respect the cultures of the Pacific islands that inspired the film," and apologizing for offending people.
