Man shot in back outside Clark Atlanta University housing

Police say a man who was shot in the back outside Clark Atlanta University student housing Wednesday was alert, conscious and breathing on the way to the hospital.

The man’s name was not released, but he was in his 30s, Atlanta police spokesman Officer Lukasz Sajdak said.

His condition was not known after he left the area of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard and Parsons Street in Atlanta.

The homes in the area of the shooting have been converted to student housing for the university, but it was not immediately known if any students were involved.
