Video: Atlanta police officer accused of using racial, gay slurs

An APD officer is on video spouting profanity when he is approached by a Black Lives Matter activist

Atlanta police have opened an official investigation into allegations that one of its officers used racial and gay slurs toward a man in public.

The video of the officer, who is not in uniform in the video, was recorded Jan. 26 by the president of Black Lives Matter of Greater Atlanta.

A spokeswoman for the police department confirmed Tuesday the man seen using the alleged offensive language is an Atlanta police officer.

The BLM president said he was recording video after he called 911 to report two illegally parked cars that were blocking traffic between Alabama and Broad streets.

After the interaction with the officer, he continued unsuccessfully to get the officer’s name and badge number from uniformed officers in the area, according to the video.
