5 Tucker residents selected to serve on new board

Just under a year after voters officially made Tucker a city, it has appointed its inaugural Zoning Board of Appeals.

The mayor appointed, and the City Council approved, the board of five. It will consider zoning requests and hear appeals "regarding interpretations made by the Community Development Director," according to a news release

Mayor Frank Auman said the appointees will serve the city well.

“We are thankful these residents are willing to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with the city of Tucker," Auman said.

And now, let's meet the Board.

  • Neal Stubblefield, a Tucker resident since 1990, has been a consultant for more than 37 years.
  • Charles “Chuck” M. Abbott Jr., a Tucker resident since 2002, has 18 years of experience in civil site design in metro Atlanta.
  • Pat Soltys, a Tucker resident since 2004, served on economic development project committees and citizen action groups.
  • Keith Easterling, a Tucker resident since 2006, was president of an Atlanta neighborhood association and served on various boards.
  • Chris Hartley, a Tucker resident since 2013, works as a project manager for a custom home builder who focuses on projects in Decatur.

With the board in place, Tucker can now move into its initial Comprehensive Plan development.

The first ZBA meeting will take place Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at Discover DeKalb at 1957 Northlake Parkway.
