Four teenagers arrested in Atlanta on Monday were carrying screwdrivers as burglary tools, police said.

The “significant arrest” of Dereck Romelle Adams, 19, Demontaa Crosby, 17, Alsaqwan Driuma Parker, 19, and Michael Ulysses Morgan, 17, is a win in the police fight against vehicle break-ins, police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Bender said.

A break-in of a 2013 Dodge Charger was reported about 5:30 p.m. Monday at 89 Mangum Street, Bender said. A witness told police a man and woman got out of a silver Honda Civic and broke into a car in the parking lot.

About the same time, Sgt. P. Sparwath found the suspected Honda at a gas station on Northside Drive.

Adams, Crosby and Morgan were arrested in the car and Parker was arrested when she walked out of the Chevron store and said the Honda was hers, Bender said.

Getting guns off the streets is a priority for the Atlanta Police Department and Bender said officers found two loaded handguns, an extra loaded magazine and a box of ammunition in the car.

Police said they also found a bag containing just over 2 grams of marijuana.

“The witness positively identified one of the males and the female as the suspects he witnessed breaking into the vehicle,” Bender said. “The victim of the 2013 Dodge Charger forcibly entered was located and advised (that) his driver side door was damaged but no items were missing.”
