Update-DeKalb County

Earlier this month, we told you about Samar Mitra’s concern over a crumbling sidewalk.

“We live on 1366 Emory Road in Atlanta in DeKalb County. A long stretch of the sidewalk on our side of the road is in a state of serious disrepair. Months ago, the county marked those sections, but we are still waiting for them to come and do what needs to be done,” Mitra wrote.

We heard from the county that the repair is on the schedule to begin within the next 21 days, weather permitting.

New item-Roswell

A reader is concerned over his neighborhood in Roswell.

“Our neighborhood is a quarter-century old—no exaggeration—and the streets have never been repaved. Although Nesbit Lakes has an Alpharetta address, it has been part of Roswell for easily over a decade, perhaps 15 years ago. I contacted the city over year ago about the deplorable streets, but was essentially dismissed. Any help you can provide would be appreciated,” wrote the reader.

We heard back from Roswell’s Director of Transportation Steve Acenbrak. He said that he investigated the area and did see some some signs of distress, but said the area was not in dire need of repair. He said the city, much like many local governments, evaluate roads on an annual basis, and this particular area would be re-paved in the future. He did say the city would continue to monitor the area and get it fixed should it show further distress or deteriorate quicker.

New item-DeKalb County

Alice Gepp is concerned about a missing sewer grate near a historic neighborhood near Lullwater Road and Ponce de Leon Avenue. She said if you take a left from Lullwater, before you turn on to the street there is a sewer grate missing.

“My car sunk down into it and it didn’t hurt my car, but I’m surprised it didn’t. A motorcyclist would not have survived it I am sure,” she added.

We sent the item to the county and will let you know when it is fixed.
