A homicide is being investigated in Chattooga County.

A death that was considered suspicious when it was reported earlier this week has now been ruled a homicide, officials said.

Eddie Lanham was found shot to death after his wife, Renee Lanham, called 911 about 10 p.m. Monday, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported.

The body was found in the house in the 1800 block of Butler Dairy Road in Chattooga County.

Chattooga County is about 87 miles northwest of Atlanta.

The fatal gunshot wounds do not appear to be self-inflicted and authorities believe Lanham was the intended target, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators continue to interview people and urge anyone with information concerning this incident to contact them at 706-857-3411.
