Snellville has concerns about churches in shopping centers. They are not like other businesses and don’t really provide customers for neighboring businesses. To address the issue, the Snellville City Council recently passed amendments to the city’s zoning ordinance patterned after the county’s guidelines that restrict places of worship with property size standards.

Places of worship, including churches, temples, convents, monasteries, synagogues, and mosques, located in residential districts or in commercial districts will now require special use permits and have specific lot requirements, set-backs and parking restrictions.
