An amendment to Henry County’s comprehensive plan and future land use map will allow a commercial designation for a five-acre site on the southeast corner of Hwy. 155 and Kelleytown Road.

It was previously designated rural residential. The change was approved July 18 by the Henry County Board of Commissioners. A commercial rezoning request for a gas station and convenience store at the site was withdrawn, and a representative of the property owner said the best use of the land can be determined in the future. Dozens of local residents opposed the move, saying the intersection was potentially dangerous. Others felt the change would prevent apartments or other unwanted uses at that location.
