The actual construction project should begin early 2017.

The Riverdale City Council will hold a special called meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at Riverdale City Hall, 7200 Church St. The council will discuss awarding a contract to complete the Taylor Road sidewalk along the west side of Taylor Road from Rountree Road to Highway 138. The purpose of the project is to install ADA compliant sidewalks, provide drainage improvements for the street and facilitate safety for students traveling to and from the school. ADA compliance refers to requirements of access in the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The request for proposals for the Taylor Road project was issued in September. After the contract is awarded the general contractor will coordinate the construction with a project development team that includes the city’s general services director, the city engineer and staff.
