Henry County Animal Care and Control was contacted June 20 about a raccoon killed by two dogs, and that animal tested positive for the rabies virus when examined by the Georgia Public Health Laboratory, county officials stated.

A 45-day rabies alert was issued for a half-mile area surrounding Chip Place in Stockbridge, and residents in that area are urged to make sure their companion animals have current rabies vaccinations while being vigilant concerning the behavior of all animals seen in the area.
