Public funeral for Atlanta anchor Amanda Davis announced

A public funeral service for veteran Atlanta news anchor Amanda Davis will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cascade United Methodist Church, 3144 Cascade Road SW, Atlanta. The family has requested no cameras in the church sanctuary.

A public viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Home, 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur.

Davis, 62, died Wednesday from complications after a stroke Tuesday night at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. She was best known for the 26 years she spent at WAGA-TV, now a Fox affiliate. She retired from the station in 2012 after a DUI arrest, and was arrested on the same charge again in 2015. Davis was candid about her drinking problems in a three-part series that aired on CBS46 in 2016. The station hired the award-winning television journalist to be a morning anchor in January.
