The tony Phipps Plaza mall in Buckhead is about to get another makeover.
Developer Simon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday that it will build a new luxury hotel, office tower, a fitness center and add new restaurants to the Atlanta stalwart of luxury shopping. Malls across the country have been under pressure from the rise of e-commerce. The makeover is part of Simon’s more than a decade-long plan to turn the enclosed shopping center into a mixed-use entertainment hub.
The headliners of the project will be a boutique hotel and flagship restaurant by Nobu, whose founding investors include actor and director Robert De Niro, film producer Meir Teper, renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa and well-known New York restauranteur Drew Nieporent.
