All dogs go to heaven, right?

The Milton Police Department hopes so, and wishes it will have more K-9 officers like DaSilva.

DaSilva was a male Belgian Malinois who served the department for five years. On April 21, the department announced the death of DaSilva, who had been retired since 2012. At 13 years old, he died of heart failure.

The pup joined the Milton Police Department in November 2007.

DaSilva was instrumental in narcotics detection, criminal apprehension, tracking and searching, but was also calm and playful enough to participate in community outreach events.

The Milton police weren’t sure if DaSilva had any brothers, sisters or children who were used for police service.

This photo was taken on DaSilva's first day of service in 2007.
