The Milton City Council has approved two land acquisitions totaling $1.5 million and the acceptance of a third parcel to be donated to create a park that will be jointly purchased, owned and managed by Milton and Alpharetta.

According to a joint property acquisition agreement of the two cities, Jerry J. and Linda C. Anderson will be paid $750,000 for 5.4 acres at 1470 Mayfield Road; and Creighton and Patricia Fuller, $750,000 for 5.4 acres at 1490 Mayfield. Jerry Jefferson Anderson and Myrtie Patricia Anderson Fuller will donate 1.7 acres at 1480 Mayfield.

The three parcels make up a future “passive” park, possibly with trails, pavilions, children’s play areas and other recreational amenities. According to a partnership agreement approved by Milton and Alpharetta earlier this year, they will split the acquisition cost 50-50.

The two cities must now reach an intergovernmental agreement on joint management of the facility. An opening date has not yet been determined, a Milton spokeswoman said.
