Gwinnett man gets life plus 110 years for 3-hour beating, sex assault

Roscoe Medious has been sentenced to life plus 110 years for a brutal three-hour sexual assault and beating.

Medious, already set to serve three life sentences for raping his cellmate in jail, broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home while she was asleep on the morning of Dec. 16, 2014, the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office said.

Medious stormed into the apartment shouting obscenities and began choking and punching her. Medious dragged the victim by her hair, threw her onto the living room coffee table before forcing her back into the bedroom, where he beat and raped her for more than three hours, the DA’s office said.

After the assault, Medious forced the victim to repair the door he damaged when forcing his way into her home. He allowed her to leave and pick up her son. When the victim’s son saw his mother’s injuries, he called 911.

Medious had previously been convicted of battery for assaulting the victim. While he was in jail, held without bond, he repeatedly sent letters to the victim telling her to get the charges dropped and offering to pay her to recant her story to police.

Medious was convicted Friday of rape, aggravated assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment, two counts of aggravated sodomy and three counts of first degree burglary in connection with the December 2014 assault after a three-day trial. The jury took an hour to return a guilty verdict on all charges.
