Gwinnett County is still experiencing drought conditions, but residents will be free to warm up around an outdoor fire this weekend.
On Saturday, the Gwinnett County Fire Marshal will lift the suspension on bonfires and other outdoor burning, according to a news release from the Gwinnett County Fire Department. The ban was put in place Nov. 18 because of drought conditions across the state.
Rain is expected in metro Atlanta Monday and Tuesday.
Without a permit, residents can burn yard debris and recreational fires, according to the release. Bonfires require permits from the county. Burning household garbage is not permitted.
Similar bans have been lifted in Milton and Cobb County.
