When Mackenzie Koger’s mother said a letter to a congressman might be a good way to ask for a White House tour, the second-grader picked up her pencil.
But the Dalton resident didn’t write her local representative. She addressed her letter, “Dear President (Donald) Trump,” the Dalton Daily Citizen reported.
That was in August, when the family was planning their spring break trip to the District of Columbia.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders read Mackenzie's letter Thursday during the daily press briefing and invited the 7-year-old and her family for a personal tour of the White House, lunch at the Navy Mess and to meet Trump — if he's in town.
Laura Koger, Mackenzie’s mother, told the Daily Citizen her daughter was overjoyed.
"You could just see it,” Koger told the newspaper. “Mouth dropped, she stood still and watched it. She said, 'Momma, we get to go!' I said, 'We get to go!' I think me and her both were equally excited. I just love it."
Mackenzie said she wrote the letter because she wanted the president to know how much she appreciated him.
She may get a chance to tell Trump in person in April.
