Exercising can lower the risk of dangerous conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.

Fulton County is offering a program to help people who have diabetes learn better management to prevent complications related to the condition.

The free six-week “diabetes self-management” program begins in January. Each session, which will last about 2½ hours, will focus on healthy eating and exercise, how to deal with pain and fatigue and how to communicate with medical providers about the condition.

This program is intended for Fulton residents who are prediabetic, have type-2 diabetes or who care for someone who is diabetic.

Pre-registration is required; contact Diane Wesley at 404-613-4238 to enroll and for information on dates and class location.

One in 10 adults in Fulton have diabetes, according to a press release.
