It’s cold now.

But it will be even colder Sunday night for the Peach Drop,  Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls said.

Temperatures will be in the upper 20s, but feel much colder.

“That wind chill in Woodruff Park will run around 19 degrees,” Walls said.

A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for the North Georgia Mountains and the northwest part of the state Sunday night into Monday morning. Wind chills will near 0 degrees, Walls said.

Cold temperatures are descending on North Georgia and highs for the day will struggle to hit 40 degrees, she said.

Currently, the temperature is 36 degrees in Atlanta.

Despite a 20 percent chance of an isolated storm, snow accumulation is not in the picture.

“Thanks to a weather system to our south, an isolated rain or snow shower can’t be ruled out south of I-20, but with temperatures in that area running above freezing, neither accumulation nor impact is expected,” Walls said. “My focus is on the cold.”

New Year’s Day will be the coldest Atlanta has experienced since 2002, she said. Monday morning will start off with wind chills around 14 degrees.

And the first week of the year won’t bring any relief.

“I do anticipate wind chills in the single digits Tuesday,” Walls said.

Plan on cold temperatures through the week with highs not climbing above 40 degrees, Walls said.
