A fire destroyed the Robinwood Condominiums in Gwinnett County, fire officials said.

A fire has displaced about 30 people and destroyed much of a 10-unit condo building just before Thanksgiving, Gwinnett County officials said.

The blaze at Robinwood Condominiums started about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and took more than 30 minutes for firefighters to get under control, fire spokesman Justin Wilson said.

Crews arrived on the scene in the 2300 block of Beaver Ruin Road near Norcross to find heavy fire at the back and on the roof of a two-story, wood-framed townhome, he said.

Initially, firefighters went inside to extinguish the blaze.

“With the intense blaze,” Wilson said, “firefighters were forced to back out of the structure and fight the fire from the outside.”

Firefighters used multiple hose lines and two fire apparatuses to get the fire under control about 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, Wilson said.

No injuries were reported.

It is unclear what caused the fire or where it started.

The Red Cross is working with displaced families to get them back on their feet, spokeswoman Sherry Nicholson said.
