A man in his mid to late 30s has been robbing banks throughout metro Atlanta for months, the FBI says.

He wore a gray “Punisher” T-shirt in a Dec. 7 robbery at a bank on Roswell Road in Marietta, FBI Agent Stephen Emmett said in a news release.

The “Punisher” is a Marvel Comics character who has been portrayed in movies and on television.

That was the fifth bank robbery the man with a goatee committed since September, Emmett said.

In all but one incident, the robber used a demand note or made a verbal demand for cash. On Dec. 5, at a Bank of America in Sandy Springs, the suspect displayed a weapon when the teller didn’t immediately comply with the demands.

Earlier robberies were committed at Regions Banks in Alpharetta, Sandy Springs and Atlanta.

Often, he carries a small, zippered bag.
