Four students were exposed to pepper spray and four others were taken into school police custody after two fights broke out at Stone Mountain High School on Friday afternoon, a DeKalb County School District spokesman said.
A police officer sprayed pepper spray “in an effort to bring the situation under control” after two separate fights erupted among students at the end of the day. The students who were exposed to the painful spray were treated by emergency medical services.
“The health and safety of our students and staff are always our top priorities. We will not tolerate misbehavior on our school campuses,” said Andre Riley, a spokesman for the DeKalb County School District. “This matter will be investigated and students who violated the district’s Student Code of Conduct will be disciplined.”
