A new men’s health clinic will open in DeKalb County on Wednesday.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony at the DeKalb Board of Health’s T.O. Vinson Health Center at 455 Winn Way in Decatur will take place at 6 p.m. The clinic is located in the health center and will serve patients on Wednesday and Thursday evenings by appointment.

The clinic is funded by the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority and is partnered with the DeKalb Medical Center’s Physicians Care Clinic, Inc.

The clinic will support non-emergencies, chronic disease management and primary care medical services, including pharmaceuticals, for low-income, uninsured or underinsured residents of DeKalb County.

According to the county’s Status of Health report, DeKalb County males experience significantly less than optimal health outcomes and have lower life expectancies than their female counterparts, a press release from the clinic said.

The clinic is part of a larger men’s health initiative providing disease-specific prevention education and community health outreach activities targeting men living in DeKalb.
