DeKalb middle school principal removed amid ‘serious’ allegation

DeKalb County Schools has removed the principal of Mary McLeod Bethune Middle amid an investigation into “serious employee misconduct.”

The district declined to say exactly what the accusation against Myron Broome was on Tuesday but confirmed that it is alleged to have happened off-campus. The allegation doesn’t involve a student.

The case was reported to the district on Oct. 19, and he was placed on administrative leave, the district said.

Attempts to reach Broome weren’t immediately successful.

“An investigation is currently being conducted and Mr. Broome will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” the district said in a statement. “A retired DCSD administrator is serving as the principal of the school.”

The interim principal is Leroy Jenkins.
