Culver's is coming to Scenic Highway — and it's bringing custard and those famous "ButterBurgers" along for the ride.

Work is already well underway on the Wisconsin-based chain's new location near Scenic Pines Drive, just north of The Shoppes at Webb Gin near the Lawrenceville/Snellville border, but a possible opening date was unclear Monday.

Messages left for a Culver's spokesperson were not immediately returned.

Culver's has restaurants in nearly two dozen states and, in addition to burgers, offers fresh frozen custard, shakes and malts. Earlier this year, the chain announced its first two locations were coming to Georgia — one in Newnan and one at 2924 Buford Drive near the Mall of Georgia.

A spokesman previously told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that those restaurants hoped to be open by the end of this year.

The new Scenic Highway location is just one of several new restaurants that have recently opened or are under construction in the area.

A Zaxby's opened Monday in the nearby Park Place shopping center, right next to a Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers that opened earlier this year. A new Cracker Barrel is also planned for that shopping center.

Gwinnett's first Cook Out location is going up at 2019 Scenic Highway.

Across from the future Culver's location, a Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q opened recently, and Ovation, a dine-in movie theater concept from Carmike Cinemas, is also under construction.
