Cops: Smiling man used forged check to get $9,400 from Gwinnett bank

Gwinnett County police have identified Joel Alphonse Roach in the forgery.

Gwinnett County police are looking for a man they say used a forged check to get nearly $10,000 from a local bank.

Police identified Joel Alphonse Roach as the suspect in the forgery. A detective has taken out a warrant for third-degree forgery against Roach, a 26-year-old Conyers resident.

The man cashed a forged check for $9,400 at a Wells Fargo on Indian Trail Road in Norcross on Jan. 13. He was wearing a blue hoodie and a black vest.

Anyone with information on this case and Roach’s whereabouts is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Crime Stoppers tips may be rewarded with up to $2,000 if they lead to an arrest or indictment.
