According to the National Park Service, there are many different river trip opportunities through Grand Canyon National Park. Some may prefer a full- or half-day smooth water trip on the Colorado River. There are also two to five day trips that launch from Diamond Creek and takeout at Lake Mead. Permits for these whitewater trips are available to the public starting one year in advance and are distributed on a first-come first-served basis. Lees Ferry to Diamond Creek river trips can be in motorized boats and non-motorized whitewater rafts.
