Georgia is getting a handful of cuddly imports from Puerto Rico.

On Thursday, about 130 rescued animals will land in the Peach State. Animal shelters in Puerto Rico have been nearing capacity since Hurricane Maria hit the island, knocking out power and water to many residents.

About half of the animals will be placed at the Atlanta Humane Society, while the others will be sent to other animal welfare organizations in Tennessee and North Carolina.

And this weekend, they’ll be available for adoption.

Regular adoption fees will apply, but the humane society says the animals will be available for adoption as soon as Friday. They are expected to land around 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Atlanta will take in about 55 of the pets. Most of them are dogs, but a few cats from Puerto Rico will be available as well.

The humane society has campuses on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta and Mansell Road in Alpharetta. More information on how to adopt and how to donate can be found on its website.
