Two choir groups have partnered to put on a free joint performance in Woodruff Park this December.
The Atlanta Homeward Choir and the Georgia State University Choral Union performance will mark the beginning of a yearlong collaboration to "call the housed to action," according to a press release. The groups hope to re-frame perceptions of homelessness by helping GSU students interact more regularly with homeless individuals.
Many members of the Homeward Choir are guests of the Central Night Shelter located on Capitol Hill. The group, which was initially called the Atlanta Homeless Men's Choir, has performed at the White House.

The “Caroling in the Park” event will include arts and crafts from the Atlanta-Fulton Central Library and free hot chocolate, cider, candy canes, a tree-decorating activity and a “festive gift” from Woodruff Park, the news release said.
Guests are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for donation, as the park is a Toys for Tots drop-off site.
The Dec. 4 event runs from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and will conclude with a lighting of the park and Christmas tree on the main lawn. Woodruff Park is located at 91 Peachtree St. NW.
The Homeward Choir will also perform its fifth annual "Christmas on the Hill" event at 5 p.m. on Dec. 10 at The Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 48 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW.
