MARTA service is not affected by the power outage at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and is running on a regular schedule.
Spokeswoman Stephany Fisher said MARTA has not yet been asked to assist in the evacuation of passengers from the airport, but is ready if needed.
“We are certainly prepared for an influx of passengers,” Fisher said. “We’re ready for that. We have extra officers in place.”
Fisher said she did not know if MARTA has seen an increase in ridership from the airport because of the power outage.
MARTA police are patrolling the College Park and Airport Stations and assisting airport officials as needed. The agency urged passengers to check with their airline for specific flight details before boarding MARTA to the airport.
