MARTA expansion has support in Gwinnett

Gwinnett residents largely support expanding MARTA into the county according to a poll released Thursday by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

Sixty-three percent of likely voters polled said they support expanding MARTA in Gwinnett. Fifty percent said they would support a one percent sales tax to fund that expansion.

County Republicans were most likely to oppose paying for MARTA. Support for expansion was 48 percent among Republicans, 63 percent among Independents and 84 percent among Democrats.

The poll has a margin of error of 4.4 percent. The questions were asked of 502 likely voters in mid-March.
