Ga. 316 is going to get better.

State Sen. P.K. Martin, a Republican from Lawrenceville, wants his Gwinnett County constituents to know that — and he’ll be holding a public meeting on the topic later this month. The meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Aug. 28, comes after a recent series of high-profile, traffic-clogging incidents on the highway that crosses through the Duluth, Lawrenceville and Dacula areas.

The informational meeting was scheduled even before a child was killed Thursday in a four-car crash on the highway.

“I just want people to know that help is on the way, so to speak,” Martin said.

Martin said safety enhancements are already in the works for different parts of Ga. 316. Improvements at intersections like Ga. 316 and Harbins Road are also coming down the pike, he said.

The meeting will be held at the Dacula Park activity building, located at 2735 Auburn Ave. in Dacula. Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash, other state legislators and representatives from state and county transportation departments are expected to attend.
