Home values rise across DeKalb and its cities

Assessed values of DeKalb homes jumped in the cities of Lithonia and Clarkston in the last year, while residences in most of the rest of the county grew at slower rates.

Residential property assessments were up 7.9 percent across the county, according to the county government's tax digest estimates.

The total value of Lithonia residences rose nearly 21 percent, while Clarkston properties increased more more than 15 percent. Homes in the portion of Atlanta in DeKalb County gained almost 17 percent in assessed value.

The slowest growth occurred in the cities of Dunwoody and Pine Lake.

Avondale: 7.1%

Brookhaven: 6.1%

Chamblee: 5.4%

Clarkston: 15.3%

Decatur: 5.4%

Doraville: 5.6%

Dunwoody: 4.3%

Lithonia: 20.9%

Pine Lake: 4.9%

Stone Mountain: 5.1%

Countywide: 7.9%
