Gwinnett snow, Day 3: Friday road conditions, closures, delays

Temperatures to climb to middle 50s Friday afternoon

Some metro Atlanta roads refroze overnight and remained dangerous Friday morning, including in Gwinnett County.

But things were definitely improving.

"Not too bad," a Gwinnett County police spokesperson said when asked about road conditions. Gwinnett police responded to more than 1,100 traffic calls in the 36-hour period that ended at noon Thursday.

“Still a lot of ice on side streets, especially where it is shady.”

Via Twitter, Snellville police said roughly the same thing.

“There are still some slick spots,” the department wrote, “but if people pay attention there is no problem with driving.”

Gwinnett County Public Schools opted not to close Friday like many of its metro Atlanta counterparts, but schools were opening on a two-hour delay.

Gwinnett government offices were scheduled to open as normal, and Gwinnett County Transit was expected to resume regular operations. Trials and hearings were delayed until 10 a.m.
