Fulton County taxpayers worried about the recent spike in property assessments may be getting some help.

Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves and Vice Chairman Bob Ellis on Tuesday asked the county’s Board of Assessors to “immediately rescind” assessments sent out late last month.

Like many homeowners, the pair wants answers to the thinking behind the jump in assessments, some of which climbed as much as 79 percent. The move followed a similar request from the Atlanta City Council on Monday seeking a delay in assessments and a meeting with the county tax assessor.
