Forsyth commission elects officers

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners has set its leadership structure for 2017, elevating an incumbent to the top job.

District 3 commissioner and small business owner Todd Levent was elected as chairman. Levent is in the midst of his second term, having been initially chosen by the voters in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. District 2 commissioner and education, training and consulting firm owner Rick Swope will serve as vice chairman for the next year. He was elected to his first term in November. And technology industry worker and District 5 commissioner Laura Semanson will serve as secretary. She was also first elected in 2016.

While commissioners serve four-year terms as elected representatives of their districts, the commission elects its own officers internally for a one-year term each January.
