Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed tweeted late Monday he’s look forward to reviewing, signing marijuana legislation passed earlier in the day by Atlanta City Council.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said late Monday he will review and sign new legislation that changes penalties on possession of small amounts of marijuana.

“Thank you to @KwanzaHall & @KeishaBottoms for your leadership on marijuana reform. I look forward to reviewing & signing this legislation,” Reed said in a tweet.

The Atlanta City Council on Monday passed legislation that reduces the penalty for possessing an ounce or less of pot in the city from $1,000 to $75 and eliminates jail time under those circumstances. Find broader coverage of the Council's actions and what it means here at myajc.com.
